Back in April I mentioned we were tentatively looking at doing the next full-scale show in November in San Luis Obispo. Many emails and a few phone calls later, I’m happy to officially announce we are ON for Saturday, November 5 @ 8:00pm at the Christopher Cohan Performing Arts Center!
The final deciding factor was the Cal Poly Music Department and their agreement to sponsor the show. This means we can use the PAC at a greatly reduced cost and do not have to pay the venue expenses until after the show is over (when all the ticket sales are in). That last part is key – ticket sales are the main monetary support for a full-scale show, so being able to pay the expenses after receiving the money raised from ticket sales is a HUGE help.
Even if you saw the premiere performance last year, you won’t want to miss this year’s show. We’ve made some changes to the story and have added two new musical numbers in addition to swapping out three of the songs used last year. There will be something new for everyone!
I’m on my way down to SLO tomorrow for two days to hash out technical details with the venue. Top of the agenda: experimenting with different projection setups to see if we want to do things differently from the 2010 show at Zellerbach. And I’ll probably squeeze in a few visits with my former music and engineering professors… and maybe a stroll around the campus to see what has changed… and possibly eat at Big Sky Cafe, one of my favorite restaurants… I have to admit, I am looking forward to the trip. I was so ready to be done with school when I graduated, but maybe I do miss my college years – even if just a tiny bit. 😛
Photos and an inside look of the venue when I get back!
Woohoo! I haven’t been back to Cal Poly since ’05… so it’ll be nice to make my way back there 🙂
