It was inevitable – sooner or later Blair was going to get sick of me and ship me off to a far away land. I just hadn’t expected it to be now!
OK, slight exaggeration. While it is likely true that I have annoyed Blair on an occasion (or 7), I am now in London for three months for work purposes, rather than as a Blair punishment. Does this mean that Hideo is any less on my mind? Not a chance, lads, and I’ll thank you to restrain from considering such bollocks in the future!
I have to say, it was particularly awesome bringing by Gibson SG aboard the airplane as my carry on bag. When I got to customs, it might as well have been a bloody Scottish Claymore in my hand! The customs woman asked me, “Michael, what exactly do you intend to do with that guitar?” I responded with, “Gee, I don’t know madam, I was thinking about maybe watering the grass with it. That’s what guitars are used for, right?!” OK, that’s a bit of a lie. I managed to restrain from being a smart ass in that exact moment. The true response was along the lines of “I have a performance coming up in May and need to practice.” Her next line really got the gears in my cranium turning. She asked, “You don’t intend to put on a rock concert for money in London, do you?” The response in my mind was “Not yet… but hold on to your trousers, because one day soon, we just might!”
While I am still getting used to the 8-hour time difference, cars driving on the opposite side of the road, and (you knew it was coming) awesome teeth, I am still very much focused on Hideo. In my London-based apartment, I have my trusty MacBook Pro pimped out and ready for my continued Hideo video editing, music recording, and basically anything else a Hideo-ite might need overseas. Of course, I would be lying if I said I didn’t miss Chris – or more specifically, his beard. How in God’s name does he give it such volume and pizzazz? He must use Herbal Essences…
Anyway, I miss all of you! Stay tuned for more British adventures!
From London with Love,
-Mike
