Happy New Year from Four Lights Productions! Blair Baker here, your friendly neighborhood Hideo Creator, Director, and Producer and the Owner/Founder of Four Lights Productions. With the new year comes many changes. One such change for us is our website. Welcome to the new site for all things Hideo – A Theatrical Concert of Music from Japanese Animation and Video Games. I hope you like our new design and layout! Personally, I am very excited; we’ve added more dynamic content (i.e. blogs from cast and crew members) and you’ll now find our YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook content updating live in one central location – here! So, what you think?
The top of the year also brings a singular question to the forefront: “What next?” The success of Hideo’s premiere performance has many people asking me this very question. While there isn’t yet anything solid, we do have some prospective events in the works. We’re negotiating with several anime and video game conventions for performance time (and space) and we are formulating a fundraising plan to take the show to… wait for it… NEW YORK.
New York?!? No, that is not a typo. It was my pleasure to meet Outreach Director Gyda Arber from Brooklyn, New York’s venue The Brick last month while she was here in the Bay Area for the holidays. Gyda is a fellow gamer gal bridging the gap between video games and the performing arts. She heads up the month-long festival event Game Play – A Celebration of Video Game Performance Art. 2011 will be the event’s third year and they want Hideo to be one of the festival’s performances! How cool is that?!
Taking Hideo to New York (Rock Band style road trip, anyone?) would be AWESOME, but it’s going to take a lot of work – and a good bit of money – to get us there. On that note, I think I’ll stop blogging and start working on that fundraising plan; we have our work cut out for us this year!
